The Lund Fund
A love of Laughter
Alongside jazz, David Lund also produced comedy gigs at the University College School theatre. Barry Cryer, Peter Cook, Frankie Howerd, and Victoria Wood were among those to perform, and, for several years, the Cambridge Footlights sketch group – for whom David had been a musical director in 1967 – would visit UCS to preview their summer revue. UCS pupils saw the legendary 1981 Footlights line-up featuring Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie, and that duo would return to try out sketches for the first series of their BBC show, A Bit of Fry and Laurie.
