Eastside’s October 2025 Updates

Schools Programme Updates

We are delighted to share our latest Impact Figures for the 2024 – 25 academic year, in which Eastside delivered 2,114 creative workshops reaching 56,275 young people across the country. And we’re just getting started – we hope to reach even more in the year ahead!

Spoken Word Power

Earlier this year, we worked with Primary, Secondary and SEND schools from across London on our flagship poetry programme, Spoken Word Power. One of these schools was The Village School in Brent.

We sent our film crew in to see what the students and their poet in residence, Justin, had been up to during the project and to hear some of the student’s final performances of their own original spoken word poetry. Watch the video below to hear from the students themselves.

These powerful voices showcase exactly why we’re passionate about making poetry accessible to all young people.

Creativity Live: Celebrating Diversity

We’re excited to share that during the 9th October Creativity Live: Celebrating Diversity livestream, we will be trialling live captioning for the first time. We’re working with a specialist Speech-to-Text Reporter to provide real-time subtitles during the livestream.

This trial is an important step in making our livestreams more inclusive and accessible for all students, including those who are d/Deaf, hard of hearing, or benefit from reading along.

This free interactive livestream workshop is for KS2 students across the country, where they will use drama and poetry to celebrate Black History Month, embedding equality, diversity & inclusion into classrooms.
