Calling all budding female writers, directors and producers – Join Eastside’s Females in Film programme.
Do you have a script or film project you are working on and want to push it forward?
Eastside is running a mentoring project specifically for up and coming female filmmakers and writers with the potential for a £200 production budget.
Who can apply?
- Anyone aged 17 to 25
- People who identify as womxn
- We are particularly encouraging applicants from a BAME background
- You have a new or existing idea or project that you’re ready to take forward
What’s the opportunity?
- Over the course of 5 months, you will be paired with a mentor to meet once a month to push your project forward.
- You will expand your network to meet a group of fellow mentees- You will showcase your work at a public event in March or April 2021
- A potential £200 production budget
Females in Film mentoring scheme, offering ten young female filmmakers the opportunity to be professionally supported on an independent filmmaking project. The mentoring will culminate in a showcase event in late March/April.
The second strand of Females in Film is a series of workshops, talks and panel discussions with industry professionals which aimed to give a taste of different roles and the opportunity to meet women working in the field. We are currently adapting these workshops due to COVID-19 and hope these will be a mix of online and offline sessions as well as the chance to make new contacts. There will be a separate application form for this opportunity in 2021.
Mentoring Dates:
Friday 25th September 2020 – Deadline to Apply
7th / 8th Oct 2020 – Interviews take place
Evening 4th OR 5th Nov 2020 – Kick-off meeting with Mentees (Via Zoom)
10th/11th/12th Nov – First meeting with Mentors
Nov to March – Mentee working on script/idea/film
Regular Meetings with a mentor – once a month
Late March/April 2021 – Showcase event – Date TBC
Female in Film workshops will happen in March 2021 with more details to follow.
