Celebrate Black History Month at your school with Eastside’s creative workshops designed for you and your students to celebrate black history and culture.
All workshops are led by our expert facilitators and build key academic and personal skills including confidence, vocabulary, and speaking & listening.
EYFS & KS1 – ANANSI ADVENTURES:

The Sky Kingdom = The world is dark and Anansi and his friends must speak to the King of the Sky to ask for light. How will Anansi and his friends fare in this adventure?
The Wisdom Pot = Anansi the spider tries to keep all the wisdom of the world to himself. Will he succeed or will he learn a better way?
KS2 – BLACK HISTORY HEROES:
1 hour per class
Take your class on a journey through time to explore and celebrate the lives and achievements of inspirational black figures from history including Olaudah Equiano, Sam King, Maya Angelou, Nelson Mandela, and Mary Seacole.
Choose either art form: Drama or Spoken Word Poetry.
“Several teachers said they learn a lot themselves, from the Windrush workshops. One teacher mentioned the parallels between how some Irish immigrants were treated at the same time.”
David Baker on Notre Dame Catholic Primary School
“The workshops were a real success and I got lots of feedback from the kids saying how much they enjoyed them which was great!”
