Welcome Liana!

Hello everyone,

Filmmaking is a big part of what we do at Eastside and this year we have fully launched Eastside Film Crew -  our own youth led crew of next generation filmmakers.  These talented young people have been working hard with Eastside’s mentors to develop professional standard work using Eastside’s fantastic film cameras and editing suite.

Thanks to funding from the British Board of Film Classification we have been able to develop over 30 young filmmakers over recent months as part of our growing Eastside Film Crew activity, and we have successfully delivered commissions for a number of key partners including The Royal Court, Wayne Parsons Dance, Shoreditch Town Hall and Eastside’s very own Disney Musicals in Schools Programme.

Watch what we made with the Royal Court on their project for young actors aged 18–25: The Woods: ReAct

Following an overnight immersive stay at the Royal Court Theatre, the group worked collaboratively over 5 days with writer Robert Alan Evans and director Lucy Morrison to create a response to The Woods.  Eastside Film Crew documented the process.

Our young filmmakers have also been out and about meeting local people and capturing their stories and perspectives.  Take a look at what local resident Tim has to say about the changing face of Shoreditch.

I think that all of these films give a fresh and new perspective as they are all shot by young people.  Congratulations to all the talented filmmakers involved.

If you would like Eastside Film Crew to tell your story, why not get in touch.

Or why not book an Eastside mentor run a film club at your school.  It’s all part of our growing and exciting offer to young people and schools across London.

Finally if you liked the film about our national project I know I wish I will, please get in touch with Liana Wyatt who joined the Eastside team in May as I know I wish I will Project Coordinator.  Welcome Liana!
