croydon youth theatre organisation

after school drama programme

We are very excited to be partnering up with Croydon Youth Theatre Organisation (CYTO) again in 2018 to deliver the final set of youth theatre clubs for young people from secondary schools in Croydon.

Eight secondary schools in Croydon will have the opportunity to host a FREE six-week drama club for committed students aged 13 - 15 who have an interest in the dramatic arts. Students will participate in taster sessions in characterisation, improvisation and devising, all aimed at sparking an interest in drama and an enjoyment of live theatre. On the final week, students from different schools will come together for a sharing at the Shoestring Theatre. For more details about the programme, please click here.

We would love to invite students to join us in the 2018 spring term - dates of the programme will run on either Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays in February and March 2018. If you are from a school in Croydon and would like to engage your students with your local Youth Theatre, then please email Hannah to find out how to apply. All sessions are FREE of charge.

Since 2016 we have worked with 20 schools across the borough, and engaged with up to 300 students, many of whom performed on stage for the first time thanks to this project. A number of students have continue to build on their skills and interests by joining CYTO.

This programme aims to not only instil a sense of pride and achievement in those participating, but also familiarise the students with CYTO. CYTO is all about creating great live theatre with the young people of Croydon within a safe, inclusive, supportive environment. If you would like to learn more about CYTO and the work they do, you can find their website here.
