eastside's 25th anniversary

Hi everyone, I am really pleased to announce some very exciting news. Did you know Eastside celebrates its 25th anniversary this year? We have been thinking hard about how to mark this important milestone. It’s taken us many months to design, develop and deliver our big idea, and here it is…

We are proud to announce I know, I wish, I will … a year long creative collaboration which will bring together thousands of young people to create the world’s longest youth-led spoken word poem!

The poem will be performed by young people from across the nation and live streamed in a 25-hour spoken word marathon on World Poetry Day (21st March 2020) at the Criterion Theatre in the West End of London.  We plan to announce our world-record breaking anniversary plans on 21st March this year. More details will follow..

We are grateful to all of our partners for their support so far and to the Arts Council England for agreeing to financially support our idea.

You can find out more I know, I wish, I will details here:  please make sure you sign up here for all updates.

The press statement can be found here and do check out the special message from Stephen Fry as we work to expand our fundraising efforts for this unique project.

Eastside is working hard to reach more schools and young people than ever before with our creative offer.  Teachers, it’s a great time to book in your Creative Teacher CPD and to make your plans for World Book Day, World Poetry Day and Shakespeare Week.  Please do get in touch.

This month, we are delighted to welcome Nandita Lovage to the Eastside team as our new Film and Digital Programme Manager.  She will lead our work with young aspirant filmmakers and develop our online and digital activity.  Find out more here. We have also just launched this year's Females in Film Mentoring Programme - watch our taster film here.

Wishing you all a happy February!

Matt
