I sincerely hope you are well and managing ok in these very challenging times?
It feels so important at times like these to reach out more than ever so that we can share inspiration, express our thoughts and sentiments and provide support to each other as we all adjust our day to day living.
And so in that spirit, I am writing a few words to update you on how we are doing here at Eastside and hopefully to share some inspiration with you.
Eastside is working very hard to set out a strong plan to ensure that we navigate through the next few months and come out the other side equipped to work with you all again on an exciting array of projects be they in schools, in the community, online or elsewhere.
We are having to re-think, postpone or cancel many of our existing projects not least I know I wish I will in which the live finale, due to take place at The Criterion Theatre on 20th / 21st March, was cancelled.
Thanks to a wonderful team effort, at extremely short notice, we were able to launch a Digital Stage, to honour the work of the project participants who was poised to take to the West End Stage. The Digital Stage inspired over 30,000 viewers who joined us to watch videos of the I know I wish I will poems as we released them throughout World Poetry Day.
If you haven’t visited the stage yet, please do check out the poetry which has been organised into an inspiring gallery. Order your copy of the I know I wish I will book here in which all of the selected marathon poems will be featured.
We are now turning our attention to all of our other partnerships and workstreams to ensure we can deliver the very best outcomes given the changing circumstances.
We will be in touch very soon with more news about what we are working on.
If you feel moved to offer any support to Eastside at this time we would be most grateful for any contributions.
In the meantime, our thoughts are with you all.
Please take care of yourselves and your families,
Matt and the Eastside team
