BFI Film Academy
Applications for Eastside’s 15th BFI Film Academy are open!
Aged 16-19 with a passion for Film & TV? Looking to learn from industry professionals? Look no further than Eastside’s BFI Film Academy.
Working from Eastside’s spacious studios in Shoreditch, you will deepen your knowledge of filmmaking and the industry through a series of practical workshops, masterclasses and careers seminars all leading to your final short film project. You will turn short fiction scripts submitted by young writers into original films working in crews with your peers.
On completing the course, you receive a BFI accreditation and have your films professionally screened in London to audiences of friends, family and industry professionals. This course is fully funded, so there are no fees for students.
We welcome applications from all over London, but if you’re live, work or study in Barking and Dagenham, Brent, Croydon, Enfield, or Newham, we have reserved 50% of our spots just for you!

BFI Script Writing Open Call
Calling all script writers aged 18-30!
Applications are now open for 2025/2026 BFI Script Writing Open Call.
Submit an original short script or a spoken word poem by 31st August for the chance for it to be made into a short film for Eastside 15th BFI Film Academy 2025.
Three short scripts / spoken word poems will be selected in order to be produced by Eastside’s BFI Film Academy students (16-19 years old). Your scripts, if successful, will be professionally screened in London during January 2026 (date tbc).

Artist Recruitment: Spoken Word Poetry Facilitators and SEND specialists
Eastside is looking for experienced facilitators with a variety of specialisms, including (Spoken Word) Poetry Facilitators and SEND Educators (all art forms) to join our artist pool and help us deliver our upcoming programmes with schools and young people across London next academic year and beyond. If you are a creative educator with a proven track-record of delivering participatory work with children and young people, we’d love to hear from you.

Eastside Artist in Residence
We’ve come to the end of another brilliant year of Eastside’s Artists in Residence programme!
This summer, 12 Primary and SEND schools across London worked with our amazing artists to bring creativity into the classroom and work towards their school improvement goals. Together, we’ve seen pupils grow in confidence, curiosity, and joy, and teachers try out new, creative ways to deliver the curriculum. We’re so proud of what the schools, artists, and young people have achieved.
