Happy New Year

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Happy New Year!

We are so excited to be launching a new decade of creative activity in which the hope-filled voices and talents of creative and confident young people will without doubt be more important and influential than ever.

2019 was a brilliant year for Eastside and as we look forward to the new decade we have taken stock of some of the wonderful achievements that our young people, artists, teachers, schools and partners have made.  Here are some highlights of our year…

1 Joyful 25th Anniversary Party was held
2 Kings College Placements joined our team
3 New Creative Partner Schools joined Eastside
4 BFI mentors led our eighth Eastside Film Academy
5 Incredible Regional Partners joined our national spoken word project
6 New creative programmes were funded by our wonderful sponsors and partners
7 Verse vs Verse Schools travelled with us on our third year of the programme
8 New young filmmakers joined Eastside Film Crew
Females in Film mentees completed the programme
10 Months work enabled us to launch this new brand and website
11 Separate Continuing Professional Development Teacher Days were delivered across the year
12 New Original Youth Led Films were produced

To top it all, thousands of young people made their voices heard from across the UK (and the world) as we welcomed poetry submissions for our forthcoming I know I wish I will spoken word poetry marathon. We have received entries from Merseyside, Rotherham, Gloucestershire, Peterborough, Lincolnshire, London, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Cyprus, France, Spain and Nigeria to name but a few. We really couldn’t have done this without every single one of you and we are thrilled to be working hard to select the winning poems for the 2020 World Poetry Day event.

Please don’t delay and book your tickets now for what promises to be an unforgettable experience.
