Samantha Bond was born in London, educated at Godolphin and Latymer School and trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. As the daughter of actor, Philip Bond and television producer Pat Sandy, Samantha Bond was destined to make a career as an actor herself. Her sister Abigail is also an actor, as is her husband. She is perhaps best known for her role as Miss Moneypenny to Pierce Brosnan's Bond and Dame Judi Dench's 'M' infour of the Bond movies.

Samantha's theatre credits include Donkeys’ Years (Comedy), Rubinstein’s Kiss (Hampstead), Woman of No Importance (Haymarket), Macbeth (Albery), Vagina Monologues (New Ambassadors), Amy’s View (National, West End & Broadway, Tony Award nomination), Memory of Water (Vaudeville), Three Tall Women (Wyndhams), The End of the Earth (National), Le CID (National), A Winter’s Tale, As You Like It (RSC), Man of the Moment (Globe), Much Ado About Nothing (Phoenix and tour), Les Liaisons Dangereuses (Ambassadors), Romeo and Juliet (Lyric Studio), Never in My Lifetime (Soho Poly) and most recently starring as Hannah Jarvis in Tom Stoppard’s multi award-winning play Arcadia (Duke of York's).

Samantha is married to actor Alexander Hanson and lives in South West London with their son Tom and daughter Molly.
