poetry slams

poetrysPoetry Slams

‘Slamming’ is the competitive art of performance poetry which grew up in Chicago, in which poets square-off in word duels or pit their wits against each other in freestyle rap. We run borough-wide Slams across London where schools ‘compete’ against each other and mini Slams for individual schools. Performance poets coach the teams to prepare them for the slam which is a fast paced fun event mc'd by a spoken word artist and interspersed with professional performances. Slams offer a great way to celebrate National Poetry Day or just to enjoy poems.
