film and literacy / shortcuts to literacy

filmlitFilm and Literacy / Shortcuts to Literacy

Children are very sophisticated viewers and this workshop offers an excellent opportunity to use the visual stimuli from films to inspire children's writing and improve their literacy. This workshop supports students in analysing how character is portrayed on screen by acting out different character roles, using drama exercises and then translating their knowledge onto the page so that they write more clearly and descriptively about character.

Project suitable for:
ks2 (8 - 11), ks3 (11 - 14), ks4 (14 - 16), teenage, young adult
