Screen Your Story Image

screen your story illustration competition

win the chance to have your drawings published

Are you a budding illustrator who is dying to see your work published? Don’t be haunted by never getting the chance as Eastside has a perfect opportunity for you...

.

Eastside are delighted to be working in partnership with Screen Your Story to offer new and emerging illustrators the chance to be published in a collection of fantastic short stories from young storytellers with the theme of HORROR!

.

Screen Your Story gives budding authors and illustrators the opportunity to have their work published and even made into a film.  Stories from the Young brings together the original tales from these talented young writers, aged 4 to 18, into a beautifully illustrated publication which will be launched at a prestigious Gala event on 2nd July 2017. Find out more about the project here.

.

This year the competition is in aid of Prostate Cancer UK and the Oak Cancer Centre for Children.

.

The stories have been shortlisted and now they need your artistic talent to bring them to life. The publication will feature the work of a huge variety of illustrators with their own styles so you’re encouraged to put your own stamp on the drawing - the only parameter is that the illustration depicts the story.

.

The theme for this year is horror, and we’re looking for the gory, the grotesque and the terrifying to accompany the chilling tales...

.

In addition to having their drawings published the winning illustrators will receive:

  • A complimentary copy of ‘Stories from the Young’ featuring their illustrations
  • An invitation to the Screen your Story Gala on July 2nd for the book’s launch and award ceremony, hosted by Alastair McGowan with Jack Whitehall, Patricia Hodge and other esteemed judges (see list here
  • An invitation to the launch of the exhibition of original illustrations - which will be framed - at the OSO Arts Centre, Barnes in September 2017

.

.

How to enter your illustrations:

  • Send an email with one of your original illustrations to give us an idea of your work to helen@eastside.org.uk with the subject ‘Stories from the Young Illustration’
  • As soon as we receive your email, you will be sent a selection of short stories to illustrate
  • Choose one or more and create your original illustration(s) of the story(s)
  • Return all illustration entries to helen@eastside.org.uk by midnight on the 14th May

We can't wait to see your work.  Good luck!
