asia house literature project 2017

exploring writing from an asian perspective

.

Building on last year's focus on the theme of Difference and Conformity we are once again working with Asia House to enagage schools across the UK with Asian literature as part of the Asia House Bagri Foundation Asian Literature Festival.

.

This year we would like to invite schools across England to take part in a creative writing project entitled:

.

‘Where does my culture meet your culture?’

.

As part of the Asia House Literature Festival Schools Programme, this project will explore the theme of cultural connection using contemporary Asian literature. Delivered by specialist creative writers, students would have the opportunity to produce their own responses to the project theme ‘Where does my culture meet your culture?’

.

Students will have the opportunity to explore new writing from contemporary female writers of Asian origin as a starting point.  Eastside’s creative writers will then work with students for two days during the summer term to explore themes of cultural identity, how we celebrate cultural difference, and where cultures meet in a diverse and ever-changing world.

.

The project workshops will take place in June or early July and are aimed at yr 9 / yr 10 classes and are free of charge to participating schools.

.

If you would like your school to participate please contact Helen on helen@eastside.org.uk or call 020 7033 2380.
