what we do

eastside makes art happen!

educational trust has more than 200 ready-made creative workshops available that schools, local authorities and community groups can choose from, covering a wide range of art forms and creative disciplines. Our projects engage and educate children through direct participation in the arts. Not only do we offer unique and exciting opportunities to experience the arts, culture and heritage in a myriad of interesting ways, we also use them to make subjects such as English, science, history, maths, citizenship and modern foreign languages seem more relevant, appealing and... fun!

We run a year-round programme of arts activities for young people in a range of venues across London. Our projects include a network of youth theatre groups and youth dance companies, live literature and spoken word events, poetry slams and play readings, book clubs, rap and song writing workshops, visual arts and crafts, film-making projects, music courses and much more besides. We also run a programme of free activities at our base in Shoreditch for local children and their families, including a dad's club (for fathers & their children), an under 5's book club, a teenage reading group, the Hackney Cultural Ambassadors and regular creative play days.

Every project that we run is unique and workshops can vary in length from one-hour creative taster sessions to week-long workshops or even year-long programmes. Workshops can be delivered intensively or spread out throughout a school term. Each of our creative workshops is available in a range of different and flexible formats, we also provide a free consultation service to help schools select the most appropriate workshop from our extensive workshop portfolio.

Eastside can also be commissioned to conduct youth consultations, arts related research and independent evaluations or to produce public events, festival activities and youth performances. We also provide training for arts practitioners, teachers and volunteers.
