"I believe that it is important to celebrate the commitment and dedication of our volunteers and to champion their rights as creative individuals."

Hello - I'm Truly Johnston; I'm the Volunteer Co-ordinator at Eastside and I strive to create a balanced programme that offers exciting opportunities with the utmost support; this ensures that all our volunteers enjoy their time with Eastside and makes their experience with us as meaningful and rewarding as possible. We recognise the true value of volunteers and aim to be an exemplar of best practice; Eastside’s volunteering programme was recently awarded the coveted Investing in Volunteers (IIV) quality assurance standard – publicly recognising our commitment to volunteering.

My principal role is to recruit, train and place volunteers on projects that match their skills, to their requirements and availability. I am responsible for devising training to support the needs of those who volunteer their time and talents with Eastside and I also provide help and guidance for interns, work experience students and business volunteers. I believe that it is important to celebrate the commitment and dedication of our volunteers and to champion their rights as creative individuals. The great thing about Eastside is that it supports the artistic and professional development of the volunteer and is committed to providing fun, creative and rewarding volunteering opportunities that encourage access and participation in the arts, by allowing individuals to train alongside professional artists. Through our volunteer programme we aim to bring communities together, foster a culture of giving and be an inspiration to others working with volunteers.
