Eastside, is celebrating its sixteenth year as one of the country’s foremost
children’s charities bringing arts and culture to young people in London. Having
worked with over a quarter of a million children in the past 16 years,
the trust will be rolling out a series of celebrations to celebrate
what it has achieved to date and what it hopes to achieve in the next
16 years.

Over the February half-term, a group of 8-14 year olds participated in Junk Art workshops at the Little Ilford Learning Zone in Manor Park. The workshops were organised by Eastside as part of Newham’s Holiday School and consisted of making art creations out of recycled materials such as milk cartons and plastic bottles.exciting performance poetry workshops at special schools

Throughout the school
term, Eastside has been running Word Play
projects promoting literacy in schools. Recently, we worked with two special
schools in the Ealing borough - Belvue School in Northolt and Castlebar School
in Ealing. The spoken word and poetry workshops focused on developing students’
emotional responses by emphasising the emotive power of poetry.
