Eastside's toolkit for teachers of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) is to be launched in January as an online web-based resource. Our new MFL toolkit will help to support teachers by introducing digital video film-making techniques in to the languages classroom, inspiring and motivating a new generation of international linguists.
We are inviting language teachers to join Eastside on our European journey and to get on board the Trans-lingual Express. Eastside's award winning project inspires young people to communicate with their peers in other countries by making short films about their passions, interests and concerns in the languages they are studying. Visit our Gallery to explore some of the films already created by young people in London, Paris, Berlin, Madrid and Rome. The gallery includes a myriad of short student films covering a range of diverse and interesting topics; For example; let a group of young Madrilenos guide you around their city through their favourite sounds or watch as a young Londoners introduce Italian students to their capital's fashion history.
Trans-lingual Express brings together key concepts and learning
processes from the new languages curriculum and we hope that teachers
will find the toolkit an invaluable resource and that their students
will have fun communicating with new friends in their second languages.
Eastside will be launching the toolkit at the end of January and this will be followed by a programme of dissemination events and practical workshops for teachers. If you are interested in attending these, please contact us and we will send you more details as soon as the dates have been confirmed. Trans-lingual Express is supported by PricewaterhouseCoopers and John Lyon's Charity.
