We are delighted to announce that Eastside has been selected to become an Arts Award Welcome Centre and we are now able to welcome young people from across London who are working towards gaining their Arts Award at Bronze, Silver and Gold level. From January Eastside will be throwing open its doors and inviting young people to sign up to a number of our exciting participatory activities. As an Arts Award Welcome Centre we are pleased that we can support young people to fulfil the requirements for all parts of the Arts Award.
You may have noticed that a new Arts Award Welcome logo has appeared on our homepage, if you
click on the link, you will see the opportunities
that we currently have available, including: writing, film-making, drawing and illustration or dance. As an Arts Award Welcome Centre Eastside is also planning to give young people a deeper insight into the arts and direct access to artists and creative practitioners by offering a range of work placements and work experience opportunities. Our arts and cultural calendar will also offer an invaluable guide to those wishing to take part as audience members.
The Arts Award is a national qualification that recognises
how young people develop as artists, arts practitioners and arts
leaders. Young
people aged between 11-25 can achieve Arts Awards at levels 1, 2 and 3
(Bronze, Silver and Gold) on the National Qualifications Framework.
Arts Council England appointed Eastside as
the London Regional Agency to launch and
establish the Arts Award in London
for the first two years and we are excited to be part of this new development which extends our reach and helps us to support the next generation of artists to learn, develop and enjoy.
If you are an Arts Award adviser and want to know how Eastside can support your young people or are in fact taking an Arts Award, please visit our Arts Award Welcome page and we look forward to extending a warm welcome to you soon!
