Y-Poetry: Eastside to partner in EU poetry project

Eastside has teamed up with School der Poëzie from Amsterdam to present Y-Poetry in London. The project supported by the European Union Culture Programme, gives young people aged 14 - 16 from London schools the opportunity to write poetry about city life inspired by the works of English, Dutch, German and Belgian poets. 300 young people from London are set to welcome the Dutch poetry teachers in February 2012.
The participants' poetry will be showcased at a revue to be held at The Unicorn Theatre in London and six lucky young Londoners will then be selected to represent the UK in April 2012 at the Y-Poetry Finals in Amsterdam. The Dutch weekend will give young people from London the chance to develop their writing skills with like-minded young people from across Europe and perform their work in a range of unusual venues.
