"What I enjoy most is that we never stand still - we are consistently changing and developing. It’s important for us to keep learning and I work hard to ensure that everyone involved with Eastside continues to learn new things."

Hello - I'm Rakhee Jasani; as a co-founder and Arts Development Director of Eastside Educational Trust, my role is varied, extensive, stimulating and exciting. Working closely with the Artistic Director and our creative team, I am responsible for developing new areas of the organisation’s work from commission through to delivery. In this capacity I explore different ways in which we can combine art forms and bring together creative practitioners with wide-ranging skills. I also investigate ways in which to maximise the educational benefits for the participants and ensure that each project meets the aims of all its stakeholders. I'm responsible for ensuring that Eastside's workshops and projects are driven by our vision. I believe that every young person should have opportunities to make new discoveries through the arts, whatever their background and wherever they live, so I really enjoy thinking of projects which will enable us to reach more young people. I'm excited by the future because I feel that technology will challenge us to be more creative and discover new ways of working and I look forward to meeting this challenge head on. Through our web platforms, I know that we will reach more young people than ever before. We already use online tools to work more effectively with our artists and I look forward to using these tools to work more closely and with more young people.

My role involves building relationships with new and existing funding and project partners here in London, throughout the UK and abroad. I have been delighted to be able to extend our reach by working internationally and exploring language and cultural understanding with young people from Europe, North America, Africa, Asia and beyond. What I enjoy most is that we never stand still - we are consistently changing and developing. It’s important for us to keep learning and I work hard to ensure that everyone involved with Eastside continues to learn new things. Most importantly I believe that our projects make a difference to the young people we work with and what we do matters.
