"Through inspired management, prudent investment and a number of strong relationships with Arts Council England and other key supporters, Eastside today is extremely well positioned to embrace the opportunities to work with a broad spectrum of young people."
Hello - I'm James Peterson. I became involved with Eastside in the summer of 2011 as part of its initiative to increase the breadth of backgrounds and skills on the Board as well as to bring some enthusiastic new faces to the table. Hitting the ground running with an evening spent working with the rest of the Board, as well as Rakhee and Chris, on Eastside's Strategy for the next five years, really reinforced quite how much Eastside has achieved since the earliest days in 1994 but also what the challenges are that lie ahead of us. Thankfully through inspired management, prudent investment and a number of strong relationships with Arts Council England and other key supporters, Eastside today finds itself extremely well positioned to embrace the opportunities to work with a broad spectrum of young people from across London and beyond in the coming months and years. This does not mean we can be complacent and in a world that is changing extremely quickly the challenge is not only to ensure that we continue to engage those that will benefit most from the projects, programmes and workshops we run, but also to make sure that the skills and opportunities we offer remain relevant, interesting and of course fun. Neither can we take anything for granted so we must continue to work hard to ensure that all the supporters of Eastside - whether that be our corporate supporters, educational authorities or our individual givers - see what we are achieving and understand the real value of their generous contributions. I am confident that Rakhee, Chris and their team will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that what Eastside brings to both its immediate community and its wider audience offers young people the chance to develop, learn new skills, make new friends and realise their potential and I look forward to being part of Eastside's future. |
