HOW WE WORK
At the heart of all East-Side projects is the belief that children of all ages and abilities have the capacity to surpass expectations and surprise us with their resourcefulness, creativity and enterprise. East-Side aims to encourage and enable young people to realise their own and each others potential, and to raise their levels of achievement, self esteem and confidence. By promoting universality, inclusiveness, team work and peer motivation, East-Side encourages children to work together to understand, respect and learn from one another.

East-Side Educational Trust also understands that every group we work with is unique and each school and organisation has its own defined needs and priorities. East-Side therefore rises to the challenge of meeting these needs by tailor-making projects. Aims, objectives and priorities are defined and East-Side will then develop a unique project selecting the most appropriate arts educators and creative practitioners to deliver the workshops. We are aware that it can be challenging to think up ideas and we therefore run through previous projects we have run or possible ideas with all potential project partners.
It is East-Side's flexible approach to devising projects and the belief in young people's potential that has resulted in projects with proven success. East-Side is committed to collaborative projects and has developed "arts apprenticeships" which is a collaborative programme which gives teachers, creative practitioners and participants equal responsibilities to plan and learn over the duration of a term. The project responds directly to the National Curriculum.
East-Side firmly believes that cross art-form projects can be really inspiring for young people. East-Side's projects have included "Short Cuts to Literacy" a project using drama as a tool for interpreting film which had a measurable impact on raising the quality of the participants' writing on character and "Parlez-vous français?" - A story-telling and film-making project in English and French and The Power of Plants a project exploring economic botany through visual arts and drama.
